emediaIT – COVID-19 National Lockdown and Company Operations
Dear valued stakeholder,
We hope that this finds you and your loved ones well during these challenging times. The health and safety of our employees, customers, suppliers and other stakeholders is of the utmost importance to us. We therefore took the decision to increase our COVID-19 related measures close to a week ago, as of the end of Wednesday 18th March with flattening the curve and slowing the possible spread of the virus in mind. Company operations have since been handled remotely wherever possible and employees were asked to work remotely and self-isolate. President Cyril Ramaphosa’s announcement on Monday 23rd regarding the national lockdown as of Friday 27th March to Thursday 16th April was welcomed and we thank him for his strong leadership. We hope that the plans laid out are executed effectively and fairly in the best interests of the entire country.
emediaIT has an established history of delivering on and exceeding expectations remotely, which dates back to 2003 when we first started providing outsourced software development services to local and international clients. Our processes, systems and culture have evolved accordingly over the years, so we expect it to be business as usual for the most part from our side during the national lockdown. The following summarises plans for company operations as things stand:
- The emediaIT physical offices will be closed officially throughout the national lockdown.
- All emediaIT team members have been equipped with the required tools, technologies and assistance to continue working remotely while self-isolating.
- General company operations will continue as close to normal as possible with our team being available via email, phone and online meetings as needed.
In addition to the above, we have also assisted multiple organisations (including NPO organisations with whom we work on a pro bono basis) with improvements to their infrastructure, internet connectivity, remote access and security to prepare for what is to come. There are unfortunately some challenges that are outside of our control though, including the delivery of physical items, general fulfilment of orders from suppliers and the volatility around the rate of exchange.
We will communicate further as the situation progresses. For now though, let us all do our part to flatten the curve and slow the spread while helping others wherever we can.
Stay safe.
